⛏️ Early Sepolia Mining (2021-2022)

When Sepolia testnet launched in October 2021 as a Proof-of-Work network, a few of us built mining rigs to support the testnet before it transitioned to Proof-of-Stake in July 2022 (following Ethereum's mainnet merge in September 2022).

Timeline: Sepolia ran PoW mining from October 2021 until The Merge in July 2022 when it became the PoS testnet we use today, but all the ETH just kinda hung out in a wallet, till now!

🎮 The Creco Connection

We also joined creco.xyz and their mining game – a P2P platform that combined blockchain mining with actual gameplay mechanics. The pilgrim emoji and gaming approach comes from that experience.

Their Crecodiles NFT collection featured amazing on-chain art – 8,888 crocodile NFTs with DNA fully stored on Ethereum. Great and fun art! 🐊

Result: This testnet tool combines the best of both – Sepolia testnet functionality with the fun gaming mechanics we enjoyed at creco.xyz.
